Wild Rose

Wild Rose

After eight years cranking out anthemic, Irish punk rock melodies on endless tours around the globe playing lead guitar, piano, accordion, and banjo for Boston natives Dropkick Murphys, Marc Orrell transplanted himself from Worcester, MA to Los Angeles, CA to start his own project: Wild Roses.

Whilst still punk rock at heart, Marc’s new project Wild Roses is influenced by a wide range of artists like The Pogues, Ryan Adams, Rolling Stones, The Replacements, Chuck Berry, Van Morrison & Tom Waits. The first Wild Roses tracks have a gritty 70’s rock style and were recorded at “Dave’s Room” in North Hollywood where they worked with Grammy Award winning producer Dave Bianco (Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Fleetwood Mac) whom Marc had worked with previously on the Dropkick Murphys album “The Warrior’s Code” and the band’s ubiquitous hit, “I’m Shipping Up To Boston”. Wild Roses hillbilly barroom blues style has been described as Americana, alt-country and rock n’ roll.

Unwilling to be pigeon-holed into any one genre the songs are often played in different ways or with different keys and sometimes different instrumentations & band members. Breaking down their sets, shifting from energetic acoustic foot stomping sing-a-longs with pedal steel and upright bass moving into rhythmic dance rock no-brainers with Hammond organ and electric guitar.

Featuring a who’s who of rockers, the Wild Roses line-up currently features Jeff Roffredo (The Aggrolites), JC August (Blue Rose Rounders) Sean Winchester (Everclear), & Nick Stratton.
