Garth Davis is the medical director of The Mission Weight Management Center in Asheville, North Carolina and has been practicing medical and surgical weight management for over seventeen years. He is the author of “Proteinaholic” and “The Expert’s Guide to Weight Loss Surgery”. He has been an invited lecturer around the country and internationally, frequently talking about the problem with protein obsession, and has made appearances in several documentaries and national TV shows.
Presentation Topic: Proteinaholic: why we are obsessed with protein and how it is killing us.
Presentation Description: Dr. Davis’s conclusions are supported by numerous scientific studies over many years in multiple countries: meat—not carbs, and not even sugar—provokes a state of inflammation; an immune system response that, when it becomes chronic, underlies virtually every one of our chronic disorders, including heart disease and diabetes. Consuming animal protein is also linked to weight gain, and even issues related to fatigue and brain fog.
